Poker Items

Looks to me like colorful cookie chips!!! lol … we’ll they’re chips alright in assorted colors needed in a game called poker. Was acquainted with this game because a colleague is notoriously known for playing them online. Has seen him bring poker books at work reading them in between calls and I think they’re all strategies helping him become a better player. He explained it to me once how the game works and it didn’t really sink in, hehehe hard for me to understand it when I don’t even know the basics. Anyhow I thought all thats needed is a table and these chips but was surprised to find out that there are a variety of Poker Products available online. From cards, to chips to shufflers and many more.

Heels Over Head – Boys Like Girls

Here’s another fave of mine from Boys Like Girls, thanks to D who downloaded their album for me … I got them streaming on my player right now.

I got your runaway smile in my piggybank baby
Gonna cash it right in for a new Mercedes
You were worth the hundred thousand miles
But you couldn't stay awhile

I got your little brown shirt in my bottom drawer baby
And your little white socks in the top drawer
You were always leaving your shit around
And gone without a sound

Yeah I'm the first to fall,
And the last to know
Where'd you go?

Now i'm heels over head,
I'm hangin' upside-down
Thinkin' how you left me for dead
California bound

I got a first class ticket to a night all alone
And a front row seat up right by the phone
'Cause you're always on my mind
And I'm running out of time

I've got your hair on my pillow
And your smell in my sheets
And it makes me think about you
With the sand in your feet
Is it all you thought it'd be?
You mean everything to me

But I'm the first to fall,
And the last to know
Where'd you go?

Now i'm heels over head,
I'm hangin' upside-down
Thinkin' how you left me for dead
California bound

And when you hit the coast
I hope you think of me
And how I'm stuck here with the ghost
Of what we used to be

You're burnin' bridges baby (burnin' bridges)
Make your wishes
Yeah you're burnin' bridges baby (burnin' bridges)
Make your wishes
You're burnin' bridges baby (burnin' bridges)
Make your wishes
Yeah you're burnin' bridges baby (burnin' bridges)
Make your wishes

You're a chance taker, heartbreaker,
Got me wrapped around your finger
Chance taker, heartbreaker,
Got me wrapped around your finger

I got your runaway smile in my piggybank baby
Gonna cash it right in for a new Mercedes
If I drive a hundred thousand miles
Would you let me stay a while?

Now i'm heels over head,
I'm hangin' upside-down
Thinkin' how you left me for dead
California bound

And when you hit the coast
I hope you think of me
And how I'm stuck here with the ghost
Of what we used to be

Now i'm heels over head,
I'm hangin' upside-down
Thinkin' how you left me for dead
California bound

And when you hit the coast
Maybe you'll finally see
And then you'll turn it all around
And you'll come back to me

Cornbread Dressing

Yummy right? Any idea on what it is? Was browsing through the many food blogs and recipe sites when I ran into this. Its called cornbread dressing and the recipe’s as follow:

Yield

Makes 16 to 18 servings

Ingredients

  • 1  cup  butter or margarine, divided
  • 3  cups  white cornmeal
  • 1  cup  all-purpose flour
  • 2  tablespoons  sugar
  • 2  teaspoons  baking powder
  • 1 1/2  teaspoons  salt
  • 1  teaspoon  baking soda
  • 7  large eggs, divided
  • 3  cups  buttermilk
  • 3  cups  soft breadcrumbs
  • 2  medium onions, diced (2 cups)
  • 1  large bunch celery, diced (3 cups)
  • 1/2  cup  finely chopped fresh sage*
  • 6  (10 1/2-ounce) cans condensed chicken broth, undiluted
  • 1  tablespoon  pepper

Preparation

Place 1/2 cup butter in a 13- x 9-inch pan; heat in oven at 425° for 4 minutes.

Combine cornmeal and next 5 ingredients; whisk in 3 eggs and buttermilk.

Pour hot butter into batter, stirring until blended. Pour batter into pan.

Bake at 425° for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool.

Crumble cornbread into a large bowl; stir in breadcrumbs, and set aside.

Melt remaining 1/2 cup butter in a large skillet over medium heat; add onions and celery, and saute until tender. Stir in sage, and saute 1 more minute.

Stir vegetables, remaining 4 eggs, chicken broth, and pepper into cornbread mixture; pour evenly into 1 lightly greased 13- x 9-inch baking dish and 1 lightly greased 8-inch square baking dish. Cover and chill 8 hours.

Bake, uncovered, at 375° for 35 to 40 minutes or until golden brown.

*1 tablespoon dried rubbed sage may be substituted for fresh sage.

Andouille Sausage, Apple, and Pecan Dressing: Brown 3/4 pound diced andouille sausage in a skillet over medium heat; drain. Add sausage; 2 Granny Smith apples, chopped; and 2 cups chopped toasted pecans to dressing. Proceed as directed, baking 40 to 45 minutes or until done.

Swept Off

Was watching Roswell and was smitten by one of the episodes wherein Max and Liz got married in las vegas on one of those drive through weddings. *sigh* I know am a hopeless romantic and what they did was just spontaneous and romantic. Imagine being swept off you feet by the man you adore and getting married then and there with you, him, the priest and God as your witnesses, ain’t that romantic?
