Happy New Year

Image : http://zwani.com

I’ll be facing the new year at the office … yep am working later and I guess thats loads better than spending the new year at home alone. It has been so different ever since mom left and I can no longer remember the last time I ate home cooked meal. Together with a few other friends we’ll be going to Momie Lai’s place tonight before the start of my shift to eat and celebrate. Weeeeeee … can’t wait to have a piece of that cake she baked.

My Only Wish (This Year) – Merry Christmas Everyone

Oh yeah, yeah

Last night I took a walk in the snow
Couples holding hands places to go
Seems like everyone but me is in love
Santa can you hear me?

I signed my letter that I sealed with a kiss
I sent it off and just said this
I know exactly what I want this year
Santa can you hear me?

I want my baby (Baby, baby)
I want someone to love me
And someone to hold
Maybe, maybe (Maybe, maybe)
He’ll be all my own in a big red bow

Santa can you hear me?
I have been so good this year
And all I want is one thing
Tell me my true love is here
He’s all I want just for me
Underneath my Christmas tree
I’ll be waiting here
Santa that’s my only wish this year

Oh yeah
Yeah. yeah

Christmas eve I just cant sleep
Would I be wrong for taking a peek?
‘Cause I heard that your comming to town
Santa can you hear me?

I really hope that you’re on your way
With something special
For me in your sleigh
Oh please make my wish come true

I want my baby (Baby, baby)
I want someone to love me
And someone to hold
Maybe, maybe (Maybe, maybe)
We’ll be all alone under the mistle toe

Santa can you hear me?
I have been so good this year
And all I want is one thing (ooh ooh oh)
Tell me my true love is here
He’s all I want just for me
Underneath my Christmas tree
I’ll be waiting here
Santa that’s my only wish this year

I hope my letter reaches you in time
Oh yeah
Bring me a love I can call all mine
Oh yeah
Cause I’ve been so good so good this year
Oooh
Can’t be alone under the mistle toe
He’s all I want in a big red bow

Santa can you hear me
I have been so good this year
And all I want is one thing (yeah yeah yeah)
Tell me my true love is here
He’s all I want just for me
Underneath my christmas tree
I’ll be waiting here (ooh yeah)
Santa thats my only wish this year

Aaah
Oh santa
Aaah
Can you hear me?
Aaah
Ooh santa

Well he’s all I want just for me
Underneath my christmas tree
I’ll be waiting here (oh yeah)
Santa thats my only wish this year

Etiquette for Mistresses

Author: Julie Yap Daza

I have a habit of writing the date of purchase on all my books and this one I got over a year ago, Sept. 2007, mom was still alive. Was wandering around National Bookstore looking for Betita Claire’s “No Boyfriend Since Birth” but since that was out of stock, I roamed around the aisles browsing through covers and I ran into this one. W/o thinking I picked it up, read the introduction, scanned through the pages and paid it. The cashier looked at me for a full second before taking my money, she must be thinking am someone’s novice mistress.

Got home and mom was surprised with my purchase but being a liberal thinker she said … well that should come handy if a time comes when you fall in love with a married man that you have no choice but to settle being the number 2. Most mothers would not have the heart to say that to their only child but then again she was not one of those most mothers.

The book has been with Pennie for quite awhile and I missed it like crazy. I read it again and again and though Bang2x wants to borrow it … am not sure if am willing to part with it. Don’t get me wrong am nobody’s mistress but the book is a very enlightening read, I’d say its a must have for every woman out there, wives and mistresses alike.

Quite a few of my office mates teased me about it … somehow the title of the book didn’t quite fit with my personality the way they see it. But as I’ve said reading is a passion and this one captivated me, I had no regrets with the purchase I’ve made and am encouraging all you women out there to get yourselves a copy and read it from cover to cover. You’d be surprise at the things you’d learn.

Here are the 28 Rules :

1.  Mistress is not Mrs. Know your place.

– a mistress who pushes his wife away so she can take her place doesn’t know her place. Her place is not to get stuck in monogamy … that is not the mistress’ calling.

2.  Even if he tells you he loves you more than his wife, don’t let that go to your head.

– as a rule, men are liars.

3.  Mistresses should be ready to give up Valentine’s Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Holy Week and his birthday (that’s why mistresses are also called “holiday orphans” because of this).

4.  Befriend his secretary but avoid all contact with his driver (Whether he is a company driver or the family driver, the chauffeur is not to be trusted. Family drivers owe their allegiance to whoever pays them their salary and who feeds them the free meals in the kitchen with the other help. In short, they are loyal to the Mrs. more than the Mr.).

5.  As tempting as it seems, don’t patronize the wife’s beauty parlor, jewelry shop, dress shop, or father confessor.

6.  Don’t call him, wait for him to call.

7.  To be seen with him in public once is risky. The second time could be fatal to one of you. The third time is The End for both of you (love is lovelier when it’s forbidden. Because it’s forbidden, it’s supposed to be hidden).

- Love is lovelier when it’s forbidden. Because it’s forbidden it should be hidden.

8.  Never believe, and never say anything unfriendly about his wife, not even after he recites a litany of her faults.

9.  Mistresses are kept by rich men. But a mistress who is a woman of substance and independent means is better (Translation: Don’t ask him for money).

10. Be discreet (Make sure he is not the type to talk in the sleep).

- There’s no fool like a fool in love.

11. Never travel together (Accidents will always happen. You can never tell).

12. When he breaks a date, charge it to fate, not his fecklessness (Men will be boys. They will forget to call. They will break a date at the last minute. They will stand you up. They won’t explain and they won’t ask for forgiveness. But don’t cry nor throw a tantrum. Don’t break down because a mistress is supposed to understand a man more than his wife does).

13. Wives have their own networks of spies and amigas. It is helpful for the mistress to have her own. A chaperone is not a good idea, however (Chaperones are passe. Besides, they talk).

- Because of her position and location in the underground, the mistress is a lonely woman.

14. Mistresses don’t complain (They shouldn’t. It’s the wives, according to the husbands, who are “always complaining).

15. Being No. 2, the mistress tries harder.

16. Send him home as soon as it becomes apparent that he’s overstaying.

17. It is practical for a mistress to be linked to another man, preferably her lover’s friend.

18. If he’s a public man and you’re thinking of staging an accident of running into him, think: How many accidents can I pull off in one month?

19. Don’t make unnecessary enemies of his children.

20. Remind him to pay for everything in cash – dinner, flowers, perfume, champagne, pearls, diamonds, a microwave oven, etc….

– In God we trust but pay cash you must.

21. Don’t use tears as a weapon. He’s probably had enough of that from the Mrs. (Wives nag. Wives cry. If only for that reason, a mistress doesn’t use tears to get what she wants).

22. Resist the urge to be found.

23. Perish all thought that someday you’ll be No. 1.

24. Married men who keep mistresses don’t like surprises, as a rule.

25. A man with a mistress leads a double life, his mistress only a half life. Cheer up! A career will make you whole.

26. Resist the urge to shower him with gifts. Evidence, evidence….!

27. When in doubt, disappear.

28. When all else fails, leave him.

Am reading it again … for the third time I guess. It’s an insightful book so get a copy :)

Manito/Manita

We had our Team’s Christmas party last night and boy it was fun. As part of the games committee we administered the games and everyone was just cooperative … unleashing the kids in us. For the Manito/Manita, Randy got my name and gave me one of the books I’ve been meaning to buy (I know there’s lots of them on my list). Sophie Kinsella’s Can You Keep A Secret?, the book’s cover is pink, the box that Randy placed it in is a combination of pink and purple stripes with a huge pink ribbon. It was lovely.

Thanks Randz … love it! Thats like 1 down and … uhmmm many more to go. Saw lots of Jostein Gaarder books at National Bookstore … can’t wait to go book shopping :)

Adorable Pets

I’ve always wanted one of these since I was I dunno little, but my asthma has prevented me from interacting with these cuddly furry creatures. Mom used to say keeping a cat in the house entails a lot of responsibility, food, grooming, health and so forth. In our neighborhood, there’s this cute and chubby white tabby, she was as white as snow that her neighbors named her Snow White. Mom said the owner took very particular care of her and has even bought a book about Pet Care and they have her checked every other month to a vet.

Kathy has mentioned once that she wants a puppy, was it a collie? shoot I forgot the breed but she wanted one and I told her, that’s gonna be a lot of investment. You have buy dog food, take him to a vet, take him for a walk around the park or something, make a dog house for him. I mean you I don’t think its advisable to have him sleep inside the house with little kids around. Or is that okay? lol Anyways she hasnt bought one yet, I think she’s still contemplating but if I were in her shoes and should I really need to buy one … I’d go for a Shih Tzu. They’re just so cute and adorable.

In time for the holidays, a friend and I ran into a shop offering cool tv deals and other appliances on sale. Tempting as the tv set I have at home is having some sort of problem, the local technician can’t seem to fix. Should I or should I not buy one? Let me check my monies first … I still have my priorities to think of though.

Which Twilight Heroine Are You?

I'm a Bella! I found out through TwilightersAnonymous.com. Which Twilight Female Are You? Take the quiz and find out!

You are observant, diplomatic and often aim to please. You are unaware of your
attractiveness and despite being uncomfortable with any form of attention, people enjoy your company. You can be impatient, stubborn and headstrong, but you are true to your  word and mature for your age, often taking care of your family and enjoying a good book over chatting with girlfriends on the phone.

Something Bad … Something Nice

After our coaching I can tell he was worried that the news he just delivered would ruin my day. I told him am fine … but at the back of my mind I thought … my days are already ruined long before they started, that was just another icing to decorate a foul tasting cake.

I’ve seen this coming and its a good thing I’ve prepared for this financially. I don’t want to be caught off guard especially when money is concerned. Being placed on Corrective Action Plan would mean losing half of my month’s pay to pay off what the company reimbursed me with for my school’s tuition. So am not expecting any pay on the 30th, what a nice way to start the year  ….

But just as I thought things couldn’t get any better, Kitoy and Tin Tin dropped by my station and dropped off a package with the words Merry Xmas Weng written on the front. It was the book I’ve been meaning to buy … so that’s like one down … several more to go. Hehehe but it was sweet of them to get me what I asked for.

I have an ebook of this already and almost halfway through … but I want the physical book, the actual book something that I can touch and flip through to add to my small library.

Tosha Tin and Kitoy … appreciate it, you have no idea how much this made me smile :)

Diet Pills

The best diet pills are those that would help you lose weight but would not kill your appetite for eating nor would it hamper your sleep or cause your heart to bit faster than it normally does. In short, those which has no side effect. But is there such a thing? I’ve known some people at work who are taking different kinds of diet pills w/o the benefit of a doctor’s consulatation, which made me wonder what’d be the effect in the long run? I’ve noticed changes in their body size and is quite amazed but then again, they’re losing those fats at the cost of what?

Slot Machines

Ever seen that movie where the guy wins in casinos because he can count?? What is titled Numbers? Can quite remember the title, but what I remembered most was that part where they kinda plotted for that woman to win the on the slot machine, the way they planned the whole thing made me conclude that in real life the chance of actually winning this game is very nil. But what about these newly popularized online slots, they like go side by side online poker and from what I’ve gathered there are various UK slots machines edging online.

iStore SM Cebu – Very Rude Customer Service

I went to iStore SM before going to the gym to purchase a case and a screen protector for my iPod touch w/c just arrived last night. So I was in iStore looking and when I finally made my choice I headed to the cashier to pay it off while the cashier was doing her thing one of the personnel there spotted my ipod touch in my bag which I brought along still in its case. He approached me and asked me to take it out. Thinking that he’d be the one to place the screen protector on it, I readily took it out. Only to have this humiliating and infuriating conversation with him.

Him: You have to pay this first before you can put it inside your bag.
Me: That’s mine.

He didn’t take my word for it and asked  a colleague who was assisting me with my selection earlier, if it was their  unit … the girl said, no that’s hers. So he gave me back my device and went on doing his thing … without mumbling an apology.

I was fuming. He went out of the stock room and mumbled a stupid apology at me and I just glared at him. I was too stunned to speak.

My tone and my mood changed even with my conversation with the cashier who placed the screen guard on my ipod. He came around the third time and he said:

Him: Am so sorry ma’am, I know you’re offended.
Me: I am very offended. You were insinuating that I was stealing. Can’t you see that the case still has its price tag and its in dollars? Dollars damn it and not pesos. And besides your units are stocked in the shelves how on earth could I get them??

My voice was shaking as I was on the verge of tears, I was so pissed off. Only problem is I don’t yell when am mad, I cry.

The cashier was doing her best to put the screen protector perfectly making sure there won’t be any bubbles on the surface.

He jumped at conclusions and was very rude in his approach, so sure of himself that I stole the device. If there was something I did wrong … and if this would be considered my mistake was the fact that I looked so fucking simple and plain wearing sweat pants, shirt and snickers. That I looked so goddamn poor in his eyes I certainly could not afford an ipod let alone a 32gig iPod Touch 2nd Gen.

Dating

I’ve never been that fascinated with chat sessions, the only people I chat with are those from the office even when am at home. Kinda silly I guess but I’ve discovered that most of the ladies in the neighborhood found their loved ones through chatting.

Can you possibly find love through online dating? Is that the evolution of love and courtship in this and age? That seems to be the case and am happy for those who are able to find love online. But that sure wouldn’t work for me … *wink* *wink*

For Sensitive Skin

This beauty product as seen on TV is really free of those preservatives and the  chemicals  which irritates those very sensitive skins. Knowing my friend has a very sensitive skin so when she said that these make up is for those with sensitive skin then I truly believe her. She’s like my personal sort of derma consultant, if my skin is sensitive as it is hers is worst. So since college she has always been careful with the make up kits she purchased otherwise she’d end up with a red face loaded with pimples so huge.

Foot Pain

Ever heard of a morning pain around your heels? If so then better check with your quacks and you’d be informed you’re experiencing something that’s called Plantar Fasciitis which is caused by excessive wear to the plantar fascia that supports the arch or by biomechanical faults that cause abnormal pronation. For easy to administer at home remedies you can try night splints – they gently flex the foot and toes overnight to help provide mornings free from chronic pain. Something that looks like this . Now I understand why my neighbor used to have this thing around usually at night before he goes to bed.

Mom’s First Death Anniversary

Went on half day at work. Dio and Boss Ger have been pretty understanding … must be bec. of  the seriousness on my face when I approached them. A year ago mom passed away, a year ago I cried like a baby, a year ago I hurt and still am for her passing, a year ago I lost my balance, my purpose, my reason for living.

Momie Lai asked how I was, I said I dunno … she asked, are you coping? I said … am pretending to and I think am doing a very good job. Why bother the people around me with my pain? She said she’s glad am pretending coz at times it made it easier for others … but was it any easier for me? She didn’t ask.

Spent the entire afternoon at the cemetery performing the rituals required of my lineage. There I was a year after and I thought I’d be any better … I swore I’d be better and stronger … but it felt like I was back at square one. No sense of balance, no sense of purpose … like an automaton following the rigors of a hidden program.

RJ offered to accompany me, so she can visit mom too. I said maybe next time … but on this date, I prefer to dance to the music alone. My pain, my loneliness, my bitterness for taking her away they’re all mine … I don’t want her to see that, for like everyone else she hoped that am moving on … she might see behind the facade and am afraid I’d crumble then and there.

And just like a year ago … here I am crying for what I lost, for what was and for what will never be. What I would give just to her back … safe, healthy and happy.

To Lose That Weight

Wafa and I have been trying to lose weight since time immemorial; between us she’s more diligent in searching online and reading about diet pill reviews making sure that what she’s about to buy are those diet pills that work. Given the boom in this industry you cannot help but be wary of the many brands sprouting worldwide and online. I even wonder if those reviews they posted on their sites are really real ones or did they just make them up to sell the product. I know some of these companies are actually making good products but competition is really stiff and the consumers would of course want to buy the best diet pills out there. The ones that are clinically tested and proven to work with the least side effects.

So Wafa has been doing her research for quite sometime while I on the other hand continue with my work out hopefully she’ll find the rights ones this time.

Gifts

I’ve been meaning to buy a radio set for quite some time now but somehow right after the thought pops into my head it immediately get stashed at farthest corner of my mind. You see I still keep my collection of cassette tapes way back from my high school days. So in tune for Christmas and to make a change for once, instead of looking for “pink gifts” for myself, I’d go looking for green gifts instead … to more like celebrate the holidays and to be in tune with mother Earth lol. So if I could find a radio set that’s somehow similar to the image above, I’d be ecstatic.

Homes

Northern Ireland — home of the leprichauns. Am I correct? lol I think I heard or read that somewhere that part of their folklore are the tales of the leprichauns. Someone told me once that when she retires she’d probably spend her last good old years in Ireland and because of her fascination with Ireland and the Irish folks it became a habit of hers well she dragged me along to search for houses online in Ireland! Can you imagine? As if we could afford it hehe. We did this last week and what caught her attention was the
New Homes Dalebrook in Northampton England. I asked her why England? Well you must always have an alternative … waaaaa she drives me nuts. So that was her choice for that week that is, am sure they’re bound to change next week. Mine was New Homes Little Stanion still in England. Somehow while we were searching we got caught in England. Hehehe who wouldn’t be when the houses are just as fascinating, there were also Homes For Sale Wixams Village but am not sure if she’s given it much thought.

Asbestos Caused Cancer

The image on the left side is that of a Fibrous asbestos on muscovite. Asbestos is a mineral with thin, fibrous crystals and are known to have some form of toxicity. A condition associated with asbestos is mesothelioma. It is said to be a cancer caused by over exposure to asbestos, usually people affected by this condition are those with jobs that expose them to asbestos, family members who wash the clothes of these type of workers are also at risk. Good thing is there are health organizations out there which are on the look out and are offering assistance to those suffering from this type of cancer.
