TESOL Certificate

Whopeeee!!!! They just delivered my certificate and am damn happy. Well after working on it for 6 months and cramming in the last two weeks before the deadline it was a relief to see the fruit of my labor. Now am wondering what my next course of action will be …. am certainly looking at various options but have not finalized anything yet.

Anyways, to the participants I know you guys are super excited as to who the winners are. But looking at the sidebar of my site I guess you’ll know who they are already. Hehehe I do hope that even when the contest has ended you will still come to visit me every now and then.

Will announce the winners on the 1st of June. Goodluck.

Bangkok : May 2009 | Dining/Drinking/Meeting New Friends

MJ used to say and she still does say it out loud that I am strict in person. Well, I don’t talk to strangers (mom’s golden rule), I avoid eye contact which is an opening for conversation with strangers, my eyebrows always seem to meet at the middle and most often than not I hide behind my earphones to avoid people from talking to me directly. Yeah yeah yeah … that’s me. Pretty uptight huh?

Now the last time I was there with Doi, we didn’t meet anyone not that there weren’t any worth meeting but because Doi and I are pretty much tight lipped. But this year with MJ with me it was amazing, being friendly sure brings quite a lot of fun. Talk and talk about everything under the sun.

Thanks to MJ I befriended Wuteim (an Israeli), Sala (an Egyptian who now lives in Denmark) and the pretty Marietta (from England but she’s Polish). Guess coz we’re girls we were pretty much close to Marietta what with dinner and drinks as well as breakfast together either at her place or at ours. It was pretty cool.

Here are some of the photos taken.

Back at Work

Am not sure if I am all pleased but I guess I am thankful that I still have a job to come home to. Though how long I am holding the forth that I am not sure. Things have gotten kinda hard for me given my long absence and sometimes just letting go and walking away is very tempting. A good friend of mine is leaving the company to do what he loves the most and I envy him for having the courage to walk away while I on the other hand is too much of a coward to do the same. I don’t have the strength to leave my comfort zone and explore the unknown. It’s like history repeating itself. I go on LOA on summer and come back to work struggling and grumpy. What a waste!!!

My Pink Summer Contest is about to end. It was fun and am looking forward to setting up more contest. My Pink Shoelace | My Pink Summer Contest my pink shoelace sig

Cranky Faucet

The faucet in out kitchen sink is getting pretty cranky which leaks water all over the moment you turn it on. It needs replacement and I know soon but I guess I’ll have to sort out of priorities as far money is concerned. I saw some really fancy Kohler faucets for sale at various online shops and they’re very elegant. But am checking things out locally and see if there’s anything I can find that are relatively cheaper than what am seeing online, hopefully there’s something really nice and elegant.

PS3

I was chatting with my aunt earlier and I informed her of my desire to get a playstation 3 and she said she’d see if she can get one for m when she goes to Singapore. Gadgets are relatively cheaper over there than from here. Or maybe an Xbox 360 or a pink psp, now that would be totally fancy but still I’d want the Egypt trip for my birthday.

SSS

A colleague of mine just came back to work from being sick for I guess a week or so, he had some sort of operation and is now filing for social security disability through HR. I was wondering if I could do the same with the one month leave that I was gone due to the dermatitis. Someone told me that I could still file for it so long as I have the form and the medical certificate.

Hopefully I can still file for it as I lost several days and it’d certainly help out my finances if I can get some scraps out of it. I’ll check with HR as well and see what happens.

Bangkok : May 2009 | River Cruise On Chao Phraya River

The first thing we did was in the morning after our arrival was sign up for the River Cruise (I believe this is a must do for every first timers in Bangkok) which takes you around the Chao Phraya River which is the biggest river in Thailand (I think, I’ll confirm that with wiki) while serving dinner on board and getting entertained by Thai dancers performing some of their classic dances. It was nice and the food has not changed since I last went there.

Bangkok: May 2009 | Ayutthaya Day Tour

We find ourselves amongst other tourist on the 2nd day of our arrival, we were all headed to the ancient city of Ayutthaya, the former capital of Thailand.  The old city was packed with ruins of temples, castles and budhha’s. Our tour guide gave us a brief history of what each site used to be and how it came to its downfall. Pretty interesting if you ask me. Here are some photos taken from that day though don’t be surprised if most of the photos are of the temples and the budhha’s not much on us.

Music

To satisfy my love for music not only to do I keep a mounting amount of music files on my notebook to which I listed to when I am at home. I’ve had several types of mp3 players, only 2 topped the list: the Zen Creative Player and my recent one, a 32gig iPod Touch which I have had since December of last year and boy I love it.

Care

Susie and her brother Lyle are looking for nursing home services within the city to take care of their beloved grandma as both of them are working full time it’d be hard for them to take care of her. So the siblings resorted to looking for an institution offering elderly care, friends of friends recommended a few names but so far they have not selected one yet. They hope to find a nursing home for her fast to better take care of their grandmother’s needs.

Being the only grandchildren the duty to look after her falls on them and they love her dearly so its natural that they would only want the best for her. She’s nearing her 70th birthday and they’ve planned a special and intimate gathering for her. They’ve invited her close friends over for dinner and small talk. It would be great and am hoping everything will be a success. The rest of their friends would be there as well to help facilitate and prepare for the party, Lindsay and her husband Paul have already volunteered to take care of the food cooking and preparation (they’re both wonderful cooks) so that’s already taken care of.

Bangkok : Around Town

The day after we arrived, we decided to take on the River Cruise on the Chao Phraya River and have dinner while being entertained by Thai dancers. Since the cruise begins at around 7PM we had the whole day all to ourselves. Had breakfast at my favorite restaurant a few blocks away from where we stayed and went to see the malls around town. Roamed around MBK and Siam Paragon.

To and Fro

Am such a slowpoke when it comes to uploading photos from my travels that Dang and Julie kept on bugging me to post the photos from our Baguio escapade. Waaaaaaaaaaa its just that I don’t seem to have any time!!!! Now MJ was very religious in uploading our photos from Bangkok in Facebook and she has arranged them in separate albums. So in this entry, I’ll post the photos she placed on the album called “To and Fro”.

Cars

Lets face it almost everyone would wanna have their own ride, and I must admit that it did have its own appeal to me at some point but realizing the maintenance and all that hassle that comes along with the package I decided I’d rather commute. Now a good friend of mine living and thriving in the US of A just emailed saying she’s on the look out for auto insurance quotes before filling out that auto car loan that the bank has graciously offered her. Good Luck Tish.

Bangkok w/ MJ | May 2009

Originally the plan was for us to visit Bangkok and Cambodia but due to the limited number of days that we had, we decided to explore Bangkok and set Cambodia aside for the next adventure. It’s my second time visiting Bangkok, the first being last year with Doi of doispeaks.com. We stayed in the same hotel Doi and I stayed last year (familiarity reasons) and explored the many temples the city has to offer as well as the shopping district. We also had dinner on the river boat in Chaopraya River (did I spell that right?), took a smaller boat from the Bang Paan canal to Pratunam, took the Chaopraya River Express boat in going to Chinatown. We spent one day in the ancient city of Ayutthaya and upon seeing the structure I wondered if going to Aztec would give me the same feeling.  Here are some of the photos we’ve had. Some are in MJ’s cam, I’ll have to give her my flash drive so I can have a copy.

Safe Back Home

Just got home from Bangkok and I dread going back to work and facing reality. *sigh* No presents for anyone this time … somehow some if not most people tend to like me for what I can give and not for who I really am. Bangkok was a swell especially with MJ who was just super friendly, we made friends with 3 tourists like us, Salah from Denmark (he’s Egyptian); Wuteim from Israel (he’s been travelling in the last 7 mos.) and the lovely Marietta from London (she’s Polish). It was a cool bunch they were all so talkative, between food and drinks talk was from whatever topic that sprung to mind. Photos later :) My Pink Summer Contest is still up and running, click on the banner below to join.

Just got home from watching “New in Town” starring Renee Zellweger and Harry Connick Jr. This is my kind of movie … the one’s with a romantic happy ending. From Singapore to Baguio

I have been terribly over the last couple of weeks. Was in Singapore from April 25 to April 29 and to Baguio from April 29 to May 2, 2009.  My flight arrived at NAIA Terminal 3 at 4:15AM April 29 and I waited for well over 6 hours for Dang to pick up at the airport. We then headed to the domestic terminal to pick up Kathy, Julie and Dio whose flight was delayed due to weather conditions. They arrived safe and sound and the trip to Baguio begins.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Just got home from Ayala after watching X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It was amazing, everything about it was just spectacular. I was given a copy of the version that leaked where you can still see the harness and all but this final copy sure is a blast. Aisa and I had a good time watching. It’s a must see for all you X-Men fans out there.

Project

A friend of mine was planning a new business venture and she’s pretty excited about it. No I take that back she was ecstatic about it and is very much eager to get started. She also plans of putting up a site for book worms like us to meet and greet and to swap books together. She said something about having memberships either monthly or annually where the members get a book of the month delivered to their doorsteps on a monthly basis. For this project to be successful we need a very reliable and secure web hosting company, no downtime, absolutely swift and 24/7 support line via phone, email and chat, and if possible which offers SSL capability as the membership charge would be done online, everything has to be secure against hackers and the like. She was only talking about possibly getting a dedicated server once things peaked up and to have a database analyst and a web developer or something to maintain the site and its back end servers.

We spent a good of time online looking for hosting companies and going through reviews to check which one to go for. We found a company thats a possible candidate which offers what they call a green hosting package intended for prospective clients who are very much in tune with nature assuring them that the whole process uses natural methods without much tampering the environment. Maybe we’ll have that but am not sure yet.

Sweets

Am not sure about you but as for me not only am I an emotional eater but a sucker for chocolates and any sweet, can’t help it. This must be the reason why I have gotten so big in the span of two years, from a mere 107 lbs to 120 lbs.  Anyways as I was checking online doing my usual routine of site hopping and online window shopping I happen to run into a site in the UK selling yummilicious treats fit for anyone who adores them. That Sweet is selling a variety of chocolate candies, chocolate bars and sweets, but its not just chocolates that they have rollin, they also have all kinds of sweets hard boiled or soft, chewy and liquorice, uncle joes, novelty and occasion sweets and some snacks. What’s good about them is that right after you place your order if the item is in stock they ship it first class immediately but if the item is out of  stock they place the order for it immediately and would usually ship the product within two business days. *sigh*

So you get to order your favorite candy and sweets online isn’t that great???!!! You don’t have to go to the grocery store to pick one.

Comfy Shoes

Saw this when I was browsing online and it looked comfortable. I found it perfect for traveling when long walks are necessary. The site I visited has a lot of Beautifeel shoes which looked really sturdy and comfortable not to mention stylish. Wish I could get one, in all my travels I have always worn flats and sometimes a pair of flip flops but I’d love to get a pair.
