After being a fan of the Japanese culture for a long time now, I finally decided to immerse myself in the kawaii culture. Not only with the kawaii lettersets that I have collected over the years but also in the form of my mobile phone. Since I still do not understand how hyper sim cards work I did not take the risk of buying a pink Docomo phone from ebay. Though I was very much tempted.
To date I have three mobile phones in my possession and many more have come and gone (am very fickle-minded when it comes to a lot of things and cellphones is one of them).

This little cutie here is a locked Bird mobile phone given to be my one of closest friends in the world. It was a promise she made when we graduated in High School and this little baby arrived at my doorsteps when I was in my second year in college. It is now showing signs of being used … it has been used quite well for a good number of years and mind you it is still in perfect condition despite the scratches.

The second one is a MyPhone, New Moon edition. Bought on a whim and used for about 6 months. It’s now back inside its original box, happily resting.

The third one which is what am currently using is a Hello Kitty flip phone. It’s a China Phone (bought again on an impulse) which sports dual sim functionality. I was strolling around the mall one day when I saw this baby displayed and I instantly fell in love with it. Bought it in less than 10 minutes.
- The Kawaii Culture which is associated with the Japanese culture has been very popular for many years now. Kawaii-ing your mobile phone involves loading (if not overloading) it with kawaii mobile straps in all colors, styles and designs. -
- All three of them -
I did research online on kawaii mobile phones and I’ve seen tons of really cute ones, they’re just adorable. One of the things I noticed with Japanese phones is that they are almost always flip phones. In all the Japanese movies and doramas I have seen, the phones are always compact, light flip phones offset by massive straps.
Let’s see what I’ve done with mine. Upon taking the images there were only 5 different straps on them. They have since increased upon posting this entry. (Will post new pics later on).

Upon taking these pictures my phone has 5 straps:
1. My Pink Shoelace dongle [it's something, I had made for my site, like a sort of cute mascot] Used it as a giveaway for a contest held here. I’ve kept one for myself.
2. A brown bear (so cute!)
3. A pink dongle with my name engraved on it and a matching pink slipper attached to it
4. Pink strap embedded with crystal stones
5. A cute miniature geisha [a gift from a friend who came home from Japan]

- This is the pink dongle with my nick name on it: Weng and my real name on the other side -

There you have it, the current object of my affection. My Hello Kitty flip phone overloaded with kawaii straps. I am still looking for a monokuro boo and rilakkuma cell phone straps but so far haven’t had much luck. next step will be to check out ebay. A friend of mine actually said the cell phone straps are heavier combined than the cell phone itself, found what she said very hilarious.
