Wayne Rink! That’s what Jennifer Garner playing the role of Jenna Rink said in the movie 13 Going on 30. I love this movie to pieces, it’s cute, light and has a happy ending. While I was drooling over Mark Ruffalo (yep, he’s the one playing the Hulk in the Avengers!) Jonas was busy checking the web on paternity tests which I think is weird.
On the other hand with the way he is with the womenfolk I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets around hence the need for the test.
Who would have thought I’d be comfortable using a Chromebook after years of using a Windows based laptop. I do have a Macbook and I am still using so no problems there but a Chromebook is quite different as it is said to be based on a Linux. David just burned me a copy of all of the episodes of Justice League Unlimited and the moment I popped the DVD into my Macbook, it quickly launched Quick Time Player and I don’t like that.
I went and pop it into my pink laptop and it immediately opened vlc media player and I like it that way. The program opens just about any kind of format from .mkv (the format all of my anime files are in), .avi (the format most of my movies are in), not to mention it plays my audio CDs too. Best of all I haven’t had any problems with it at all.
I have come to a sudden realization that I have spent quite a lot of time watching anime series that I have lost track of the American TV series I used to follow. So last night after downloading all the recent CSI: NY episodes I went on a marathon. One particular episode if am not mistaken that was on episode 3 of Season 7 there was this cool song playing in the background. It took me a while to find but it was Falling Apart by Trouble Andew.
Listen to the song and I think you’d like it too. CSI: NY sure has been choosing quite great choices in the music they place on each episode. I look forward to episode 15 and see what’s in store for us.
Doi, Ed and I watched this movie last night and safe to say I like it. I have this “nonsense” policy of reading the book first before watching the movie but since a copy of this book has been sold out in all major bookstores in the city I had to choice to go see the movie first. I have made reservations for a copy of the book and cannot wait to read it. A friend of mine from work mentioned awhile back that the book is somewhat dragging but after reading the reviews on several websites I am convinced to give it a shot.
Many said that despite seeing Julia Roberts as luminous as ever the movie lacked the depth portrayed in the book. So reading this book the moment new stocks arrive is a priority.
I bought a copy of the book (Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami) about 2 years ago and swore that I would read it the moment I got free time on my hands. This did not happen though and the book like all my other books are carefully stored in the many boxes I have piled up at home. 2 years after [2010] I finally realized that the book will be made into a movie which would star my favorite Japanese actor of all times [Kenichi Matsuyama] I vowed to read the book before the movie would be released, not able to figure out which box I placed my copy of the book I went out and bought another one. Finished the book and fell in love with it … no wonder this book made Haruki Murakami a celebrity in his own country. It is anything but a simple love story … the twist and turns, the dilemma that Toru has to face between his love for the beautiful Naoko and the vivacious Midori … is very captivating. You would not want to put the book down until it’s finish.
Norwegian Wood is a Beatles song which has been mentioned in the book several times as it is a favorite of the beautiful Naoku. At 37 the narrator (Toru Watanabe) landed in Germany and heard an orchestral rendition of Norwegian Wood and he was overwhelmed with memories of his college years which brought him back to 1960′s when he was just 17 and the story unfolds.
I love it I love it I love it. I said that too much right? If you are in the market looking for your next book to read then please get a copy of this novel, you won’t regret it.

The movie is directed by Tran Anh Hung and will be released in Japan this December. It stars the following:
Jovie and I were talking once (a long time ago) about anime and TV series and she told me that she is not really a huge fan of animes but there’s one she really liked, a live action series was made out of it entitled Absolute Boyfriend (Zettai Kareshi). I committed the title to memory and searched the web for it.
Just finished watching it and I fell in love with the series, whew! I could watch this over and over and still get the same rush. Love it! I remembered us talking once wondering if we could order such a thing … nyahahaha. The ending theme of this Japanese Drama is also very pleasing to the ears (even though I don’t understand the lyrics), if you are a Japanese fan (like moi) then include this series in your To Watch List.
~ The ending theme is entitled “Okaeri” by Ayaka. ~
A friend of mine from college sent me a message over at Facebook asking if I have the following movies:
1. Memento
2. Seven Samurai
3. Raise the Red Lantern
4. 2001: A Space Odyssey
5. Blade Runner
6. Goodfellas
I used to have the movie, Goodfellas but when my first 1 TB hard drive was damaged beyond repair I lost that movie along with so many others. She said she needed at least of these movies on September 5 as she will give it as a gift to a friend. I have been wanting to watch Seven Samurai but somehow I would keep on forgetting. It would always fall right back into the deepest recesses of my mind especially when I am deeply addicted to anime these days.
I have included it in my to do list to find Akira Kurosawa’s movies and collect them. I already have Seven Samurai, so that one down and tons more to go … lol
I am watching Sex and the City, TV series for the second time and I;m loving it. It’s actually nice and just like the first time I still get fascinated with the shoes and the dresses and the way they live their lives. Of all four women, I love Carrie’s work as a writer and Miranda’s strong personality.
I’d someday want a pair of Manolo’s … lol as if I’d have any place to wear it to. I have given my stilettos to a friend who is the same shoe size as I am …a after all since I am now working from home, I really don’t need them anymore.
I have watched Street Fighter when I was a little girl and I have always liked Chun Li. You know how it is with kids, they like to pretend to be their favorite character. Just like with Sailor Moon, my classmates and I back in elementary grade had our favorite sailor star. I have always been Sailor Mars.
Now I just watched this movie, Street Fighter: Legend of Chun Li which stars Kristen Kreuk. Because of her role in Smallville, I would always call her Lana Lang. I find this movie really great and I am amazed at how Kristen spoke Mandarin with complete ease. The martial arts is not bad either.
Just got home after watching the third installment in Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga, Eclipse. I watched it with MJ at Ayala Center Cebu and it was full packed. The last movie I watched this full was The Karate Kid still with MJ. The movie was okay, don’t get me wrong I was a huge fan back then, I’ve read the books long before they started showing Twilight. But now lets just say I’ve gotten over it and am just watching the movies now for the sake of watching them … lol
Lie To Me is a tv series that was recommended to me by a friend back at work. I am now watching it and I love it … really. It’s like Numb3rs where they use Charlie and Math to solve crimes; with Lie To Me they use experts in lie detection to solve crimes.
I look forward to the start of Season 3 just as I am waiting for the start of Season 6 on Supernatural. Resigning from work definitely gave me all the time in the world to catch up on my movies. lol .
I have been a fan of Mr. Miyagi of the Karate Kid movie franchise and have watched the entire movie franchise including the latest remake. I gotta tell you Jaden Smith is one cute kid and with Jackie Chan taking the “role” of Mr. Miyagi made it a full packed family movie.
The movie house was full with families looking forward to watching the movie and we had a hard time looking for a seat. There were a whole lot of kids and am just thankful that none of them were crying lol.
If you don’t have nothing to do for the weekend then go watch this movie with your family and friends and I tell you it’s worth your time and monies. It’s full of action, comedy and drama perfect for any family to watch.
Now that am out of work, I finally have the time to watch my tv series and what not. At the moment I am watching Numb3rs still on Season 01. I am overwhelmed I should say, Math has been my weakest link in school and I hate numbers. I couldn’t even add two to three digits in my head at a snap.
So now am watching and I love it … really I look forward to get a hold of the rest of the seasons. If you’re up to shows that would keep your adrenaline going this is it. So am putting my anime on hold for a little while.
I remembered this being aired on Channel 23 when I was in high school but being the studious student that I was, TV on school days was a big NO NO. One of my closest friends who was and still is addicted to anime had a huge poster of Kenshin on her bedroom back then and I never really understood what’s so fascinating about this anime till … now. I have made it a habit to download all those tv shows and anime series popular during my teenage years so I could watch them without repercussions and though it took what seemed liked forever, the download’s complete and all 95 episodes plus 2 OVA’s [with 6 episodes all in all] are safely tucked in my HD. I am taking better care of my external HD this time coz I don’t want it damaged beyond repair like the other one.
Though just to be on the safe side I will be burning dvd copies of them and right now all I could think of is getting my hands on the manga …. waaaaaaaaaa I doubt if they are available here and so when the time comes that I get to visit Japan looking for the manga would definitely be on the list of things to do.
I’ve also managed to download the complete soundtrack of this anime and one of my favorites is sang by Suzukaze Mayo entitled “Namida Wa Shitteiru”; Mayo is also the seiyu of Kenshin …. amazing that a woman would be the voice of a male character. Let’s listen to the song below.
I have a thing for fairy tales and musicals and Cinderella is just one of the many classics I cannot seem to get over with. As you all know there are several variations and adaptations to the fairy tale “Cinderella”, musicals, films, animations and stage plays has been produced based on this age old fairy tale. Not exactly my favorite fairy tale of all time [Beauty and Beast holds the crown for me] but it’s a wonderful story just the same. There’s the Disney animation which spawned two more sequels and they were great. Then there’s Drew Barrymore in the movie, Ever After: A Cinderella Story and a whole lot of others.
One of the movies I really liked and just finished watching is a rendition of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella which stars the R&B artist Brandy as Cinderella, Whitney Houston as the fairy godmother, Whoopi Goldberg as the Queen, Victor Garber as the King and of course Paolo Montalban as the Prince.
Now Paolo Montalban also played the role of Kung Lao in Mortal Kombat: Conquest and guess what he is a Filipino, yooohoo made me proud to see a Filipino in the big screen and one more thing he can sing. Oh yes, he can sing … watch the musical and you’d see what I mean.
I’m not certain if this had a theatrical release but I assure you the music and everything was just beautiful. Let’s listen to one of the songs in the movie, my absolute favorite, it’s titled “Ten Minutes Ago”.
It’s not a love story. The narrator would say that at the very start but I am not so sure about that. It’s intriguing and rather sad and I love it … I’ve had the file for a while and never got to watching it till today after being reminded by a colleague to watch because it’s a must. I love the movie because of Zooey Deschanel as I absolutely adore her and would love to see any movies she’s in.
I have seen the 2004 movie starring Gerard Butler as Erik, Emmy Rossum as Christine and Patrick Wilson as Raoul on the big screen and bought the DVD copy of it as well … I just finished watching it for the nth time and it still makes me teary-eyed. I have been obsessed with this theatrical piece ever since I can remember, I have not read the original by Gaston Leroux but has read “The Phantom” by Susan Kaye over and over, I love it. So when the 2004 rendition came to the big screen I was very excited. This part gives me the chill every time I watch it …
Here’s a stunning tv performance of the song “All I Ask Of You” by Emmy Rossum and Patrick Wilson, I find it amazing how calm he looks while singing … and Emmy is just … perfect! I love them both.
Hopefully one day I’d be able to watch it on stage … *sigh* what I’d give to be able to do that now, I know you might think am the emo/goth/rock chick but I do have a flair for Broadway and the musicals, this being just one of ‘em.
The Phantom of the Opera reminds me of Belle and the Beast the major difference is it had a happy ending and they live happily ever after … but then The Phantom of the Opera won’t be as dramatic, as haunting, as tragic as it is if Christine chose Erik now would it? … *sigh*
This rendition of the song “Phantom of the Opera” by the Finnish band Nightwish, old Nightwish that is with Tarja Turunen on the lead vocals is an absolute favorite of mine … I love it more than the Sarah Brightman and Antonio Bandera’s version. When they kicked her out and replaced her with Anette Olzon, the band declared that they will never play this song live ever again and I can imagine why. It wouldn’t sound right if Tarja’s not singing it. Her voice is just powerful.
Lets just say am one of the many fans who love old Nightwish more than the new one. These guys rock!
Ever since I saw the trailer on youtube I just cannot wait to see this movie. It stars Hugh Dancy (Confessions of a Shopaholic) and Rose Byrne (28 Weeks Later). The movie revolves around a rather eccentric guy named Adam (Hugh Dancy) who has Asperger syndrome and the woman who moved on the apartment on the second floor Beth (Rose Byrne).
I didn’t even even know that there’s such a condition as Asperger Syndrome which is an autism spectrum disorder (to think am taking up Special Ed … waaaaaaaaaaa). That could prolly be one of the reasons why am drawn to the movie and I really do wanna see it. There’s this part on the trailer when Adam said, “I can see that you’re upset but I don’t know what to do” and Beth said, “Could you to give me a hug”. *sigh*
Try watching the trailer and maybe like me you’d end up wanting to watch it too … or maybe you have already. I dunno …
I’ve always been a sucker for romantic comedies and I just spent my rest days watching quite a bunch online, was planning on going out Friday night but decided against it the lure of the pyjamas, mug full of coffee and several movies kept me grounded. That sounds pretty boring not to mention dorky but hey … that’s me always and forever will be loner/home buddy. So I watched Sydney White, the modern Snow White teen movie starring Amanda Bynes and Matt Long. I adored Amanda ever since I saw her movie Lovewrecked and She’s The Man, she cute and has a lot of life not your typical sissy.
Sydney White is like a modern take of the classic fairy tale, where Sydney going to college to the sorority house where her mom used to be a member of only to fall under the hate radar of the sorority’s president … it’s another feel good movie with a happy ending and it’s nice not to mention the the “prince” is played by a dashing young man in the person of Matt Long.
My tradition has it that I watch every HP movie with two friends from college and the last time I saw them both was last year with the movie Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix so with the release of the 6th installment they’ve texted me confirming that we’re watching it this Sunday. But I’ve watched it with Mitchy and her bro as I cannot wait. Seems like I need to reread the book as am having difficulties separating the events that transcribed from book six and book seven.
Someone said to me once the movie is way over due by the time its released those die hard fans would have finished the book months ago and would need a little refreshing. I seem to be needing that one now … needless to say its Harry Potter and I love it.
I pinged RJ about the 3 of us hanging out, lunch and then see a movie. She readily said yes and I asked her to text Lovely about it after a couple of minutes it was confirmed. This was last Tuesday and the date we’ve set was the day after, Wednesday.
So we met at KFC Ayala, had lunch and I finally get to meet RJ’s boyfriend, Vince and talk was flowing. It was decided that we’ll watch Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen which was shown that day.
It was amazing! The movie theater was jam packed, people were clapping when it ended and boy I love the soundtrack. Gotta grab a copy as soon as it hits the stores.
Mitchy and I were planning to see this film as soon as it is shown here. So were watching it tomorrow, first thing in the morning right after her shift and right before I go to school. So excited.
On second note, My Pink Summer Contest is still up and running. You might wanna join, just click on the banner below for details.
Just got home from watching “New in Town” starring Renee Zellweger and Harry Connick Jr. This is my kind of movie … the one’s with a romantic happy ending. Am such a sucker for romance and a certified hopeless romantic. I find the movie cute and damn those stilettos … hehehe watch the movie to see what I mean.
Anyhow, My Pink Summer Contest is still up and running. I hope you guys can join click on the banner below for more details.

Just got home from Ayala after watching X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It was amazing, everything about it was just spectacular. I was given a copy of the version that leaked where you can still see the harness and all but this final copy sure is a blast. Aisa and I had a good time watching. It’s a must see for all you X-Men fans out there.

There was a part in the movie Mama Mia where I was touched to the core, when Sam offered to have the men in Donna’s life go through the paternity test to check who really is Sophie’s father really is. But Harry intercepted and said that he would be much honored to a third of Sophie’s father and that he never thought he’d ever get that much to which Bill seconded. So after waiting for over 20 years to find out who her father really is Sophie didn’t just get one but she got three! Three adorable and loving men who love her and want nothing but the best for her. Whew!!! Kinda surreal now isn’t it?
Tuesday after shift, Bena, Diva and I decided to watch Confessions of a Shopaholic. Having read the book I was a bit disappointed at how different the movie was from the book. Seems like they need to cram a lot of things into the movie. The movie didn’t show how Tarquin used to have the hots for Becky and how he ended up marrying Suze instead who was a second cousin of some sort. Strange how in the movie Luke Brandon was working as editor for Successful Savings when in the book he was already head of Brandon Communications. Strange how they ended the movie with Luke and Becky back together with Luke giving the green scarf to Becky on the sidewalk when in the book it was given in the airport when Becky was about to leave for New York. In the book they got back together when Luke visited Barney’s where Becky worked as a shopping assistant.
They crammed so much in one movie both book 1 and book 2 (Shopaholic Takes Manhattan). But all in all we had a good laugh, I find the movie hilarious and romantic, Hugh Dancy is certainly one cute guy … weeeeeee. A must see … its a feel good movie
I’ve been watching The Cutting Edge 3 over and over … I just can’t get enough of the movie. This song is stuck in my head and I can’t find the title and the artist online. Here it goes:
You said you’d rather be alone
My whole world turned to stone
But in another world you come crashing back to me
And we would love such love that was never meant to be
It was an impromptu decision we went half day, went to the bank and deposited some money, went back to the office and woke Mitchy up in the lounge. We went to Ayala, ate a bunch of chicken from KFC’s bucket meal and watched Twilight. Diva and Mitchy are not that familiar with the book or with the movie for that matter. But I’ve convinced them to watch the movie wth me, we bumped into a couple of other friends from work.
The Movie
I guess it was not what I expected or maybe am expecting much. Its the same feeling right after I watched Prisoner of Azkaban. I think it goes for all novels turned to movies, there are quite a few scenes from the book that are deleted from the movie. Though I find Robert Pattinson just fit for the role but I find Bella stiff, lol am not much of a movie critique but thats how I see her.
All in all I like the movie and the “kilig” factor it brought … giggles escaped the crowd from time to time and I can’t help but wish I’ll find my own Edward soon. Lol
