Purple Blackberry Curve 8520

After tinkering on MJ’s Blackberry Curve I decided it would be a nice phone to upgrade to. Last Sunday after watching Thor we went to Globe Telecom’s service center supposedly only to inquire on the requirements for acquiring a second line under her current account. MJ has been a Globe subscriber since time immemorial and so the customer service rep we spoke with readily offered to open the second line for her. Before I knew it, I was already handed a new handset, a purple Blackberry Curve 8520. I was hoping to get a pink one but was told that they only have three colors available, black, red and purple. I settled for purple.

My purple Blackberry Curve 8520 is part of Globe’s My Super Plan 299 (that’s the cheapest they have) with all of Blackberry’s services enabled which is an additional P999 on top of the P299 plan. So all in all I will be paying P1298 per month and in return I get P299 on call and text (consumable), free 5 min. call and 25 SMS to other networks, and unlimited mobile browsing, social networking, and email access on my Blackberry Curve 8520.

Not a bad deal if you ask me. I’ve taken some photos of my purple berry … they don’t really look as nice as I hope them to be. LOL

Android or Blackberry

It seems as if my hand is itching yet again to buy a new mobile phone. It happens every now and then and the last time this happened I ended up impulsively buying a Hello Kitty dual sim flip phone. Back then I have been so hooked with the kawaii flip phones I see in Japanese dramas and movies that I resorted to finding one that closely resembles it.

Now however I am thinking of getting an Android mobile phone or succumb to the lure of Blackberry. If I opted for Android, my first choice would be Sony Ericsson Arc but am not sure how much damage this unit would cause me. As for the Blackberry, I have seen pink Blackberry Curve and I am very tempted to buy one. The last time I fell in love with a qwerty smartphone was with a pink Palm Centro which unfortunately I could not find here.

So if you were me, what would you choose, a Blackberry Curve or a Sony Ericsson Arc?

SEO Guru

In the course of my freelance career I have seen several online job postings about search engine optimization. The budget for these projects are rather good and it made me wonder what it takes to be considered and SEO guru. Almost all of these projects would mention wanting an SEO superstar or SEO guru. The last project I checked out required that the applicant must have previous experiencing using seo elite and those who don’t have this need not apply. There are a lot of search engine optimization products other there and it’s impossible to know all of them at once.

Cell Booster

I’ve seen one of these on eBay and based on the product title and description I was wondering if this wilson cellular booster would work with my prepaid broadband internet plug it. The broadband plug it utilizes a sim card which can be used on any cellular phone so I wondered if this booster can be used to boost the signal of my prepaid internet connection. It’s pretty slow and definitely does not live up to its advertised upto 1mbps connection speed.

1U server

Ken was talking about starting his own blog site but is quite unsure as to which web hosting provider to go for. The other day he received an email from a domain hosting company that offers a 1U server for the web site and it is said to be the best domain hosting server the market has ever seen. Not to mention that the monthly service charge was rather cheap. It is some sort of promotion since the company is still new. Ken thought about subscribing there but he is waiting for Lee’s opinion before he’d decide.

A couple of days ago I decided to give “uploading a torrent” a shot. Yep, I have been a downloader ever since I learned how to use bittorrent but I have never uploaded anything till now. A friend of mine asked me to download Fantastic Four: World’s Greatest Heroes and after finishing the download I searched Demonoid for a similar download and realized there wasn’t one with all 26 episodes packed in one file.

After reading the FAQ section and the tutorial on how to make a torrent file I finally made mine, a  Fantastic Four: World’s Greatest Heroes Torrent. Hehehehe I uploaded it and we’ll see how it goes. Vipre Anti-virus for the Computer

Run across a free trial version of an antivirus software online and am wondering if its any good. At the moment I am using Windows Live Essentials which comes as a free download from the Microsoft site and works great with Windows 7. The name of the software is Vipre which is said to come with antivirus and antispyware protection; it has been given a 5 star rating over at download.com and has gotten quite rave reviews from users and editors alike.  Now I did mention it has a free trial version that lasts for 30 days and its quite simple to obtain, just fill the registration form and you got the software to test out. It’s said to have little to no impact as to the computer’s performance, some software actually slow down the pc when they are loaded but not this nifty one which I think is a really major plus.

I’d better do a bit of reading before downloading the program, don’t want to run into some problems on my pc.

Seo Tool

One of the things that make a blogger and his blog successful is the utilization of the correct SEO tools. In one of the conferences we’ve attended the speaker placed heavy emphasis on the selection of the right boosting tools to give ones blog the much needed exposure on the web. Given the rapid increase of blog numbers online getting yours to the limelight is a must if you expect to make it to the list of top earning bloggers.  If in doubt with what to choose he suggested on trying out the many offered free seo software online because jumping in and getting hold of the paid ones.

Back to Mozilla Firefox 3.0

I did mention on my previous post that I am  not that pleased with the upgrade primarily because the Real Player plugin doesn’t work on it plus it’s really slow and would crash unexpectedly especially if you have at least 6 tabs open at the same time. Am not sure if you guys are having the same kind of problem but I did and I didn’t like it.  Thank God for I found this website:  Old Apps where I get to download and older version of Firefox, I tried version 3.5 but my plugins still didn’t work well with them so I settled for 3.0 and am loving it.

Things are back to the way they’re suppose to be and it’s working great, all my plugins are fully functional, all the themes I’ve downloaded seemed to work beautifully. I’ve noticed that on one of Ron’s shoutouts in Facebook, he mentioned hating the upgraded version and I can totally relate so upon seeing him online in IM, I pinged him and told him of my discovery. Hehehehe

I think he’s able to go back to the older version and things are working well for him too.

firefox3.0.13

The site compiles downloadable old versions of any program imaginable from browsers to file sharing apps, if there’s anything you need … you might wanna check the site out. I find it very useful.

Cute

Was foolin around my notebook earlier and I remembered how I used to change the theme of my firefox browser, I haven’t done it for quite sometime just sticking to what was the default but it came across my head earlier and off I went to Mozilla’s website to browse through the many themes and I settled for this one.

pinkmozilla

No surprise there as I love pink. I am currently on version 3.5.2 of Mozilla Firefox and I can say I kinda regret doing the update because the Real Player Video Download plugin doesn’t work on this version and from what I’ve read on some of the forums online, Real Player won’t be releasing an upgrade anytime soon. That sucks big time *sigh* I guess the only consolation is it still works on Google Chrome and IE and though I rarely use IE, Google Chrome acts as my secondary browser.

Another Site

I’ve got several things planned I barely know which once to act on first amongst them is to set up a blog for a friend. She has not decided on what the domain name would be but in the mean time we have scoured the net for the top web hosting companies searching for affordable yet reliable host. Though there are companies that I can readily recommend I want her to be able to go through the reviews online and decide for herself which ones she’ll go for after all its her website not mine. I’ll be around to help her set up and all that but as far as choosing which hosting company to go for that decisions lies entirely on her.

Music

To satisfy my love for music not only to do I keep a mounting amount of music files on my notebook to which I listed to when I am at home. I’ve had several types of mp3 players, only 2 topped the list: the Zen Creative Player and my recent one, a 32gig iPod Touch which I have had since December of last year and boy I love it.

Blogging

Couple years back it never crossed my mind that I’d be able to make money blogging. It sounded like a very distant and a remote possibility. But thanks to Lex who kept on encouraging me to try it out, here I am a year after glad to have taken the chance and get out of my comfort zone and start writing about things that interest me and about the things that tick me off. A lot of companies out there search to expand their customer base and are always on the look out on how to achieve that. Marketing is the key, how to market their products and services to the masses. That’s were promotions, coupon codes, discount vouchers come in, in the world of online shopping it’s not a wonder why people are getting a lot of what they consider spam/junk emails with advertisements from various companies. That’s one of the company’s way to get to the consumers … electronic advertising.

Though I don’t find this quite successful because if there are consumers out there like me who just readily empty out the bulk folder without opening a single email what good would that email advertisement do? So now a lot of companies opted for blog advertising, seeing the growing number of people with online presence and how each has a certain base of readership.

So are you a company looking to advertise your products and services? Then try blog marketing and see results.

Should I or Should I Not?

Arghh… not only am I not able to buy a new flash memory card for my digital camera I was also not able to buy a backup battery for it. *sigh* My pink digital camera which is two years old (I know, time to replace it) is still functioning but there’s a slight problem to the battery. It doesn’t last long like it used to, used to work for at least 5 to 6 hours of constant usage but now it’d only stay on for an hour or so. Huhuhuhu … should I buy a new battery and a new memory card or should I go ahead and buy a new one? What chu think?

Hosting

A friend of mine wanted to setup a site for their family’s craft business, she called up two days ago asking my opinion about which web hosting company to go. I didn’t want to monopolize and just ask her to go with the hosting company I have for my blog. So I told her that if you want to know the many hosting companies out there then it’d be better if you read web hosting reviews from various sites and web hosting blog before signing for one.

Features, availability of tech support, rate per month should be amongst the things to consider when looking for a hosting provider. How good would it be if they offer you much space and bandwidth for a lesser price compared to the others but then you cannot get hold of their technical support when you need help on something?

Am not sure what progress what progress she has made by now, but from my guess she seemed very enthusiastic about working on their family’s business and would wanna extend it online, she still has to think though of a domain name for the site, on the layout and likes but I think that will have to come much later after the purchase of a good web hosting package. If in need of good and bad reviews, you dont really have to remember a specific site, searching for it in google using key words or phrases like top ten web hosting would produce quite a lot of results, I’d usually skim through the first ten web sites that’d come out. Somehow these sites would produce more or less the same names of hosting companies though not exactly in the same order.

The Power of Technology

With technology I found people and organizations doing business more and more at their homes, others on vacation in the Bahamas and who knows where else. The coming of the internet and the world wide web things are just moving quite a bit fast online. From shopping, to banking to bills payment and now … employees and employers, business partners collaborate online at any time of the day no matter on which part of the globe you’re located so long as there’s internet connection, electricity, your pc up and running then business meetings can proceed as usual. Gone were those days where men and women have to dress corporate and rush to the conference room for a meeting. Now they can do it anywhere. Isn’t that amazing?

Which reminds me why even on team buildings our senior operations manager always has her laptop with her. Scary how she can monitor your desktop at work while she’s sipping beer in a beach somewhere. Thats the power to technology.
