Friends

I was with Druggie and Eds awhile back at Hebrews, a coffee shop over at IT Park and I must admit the internet connection is pretty impressive.

The food was good over at Hebrews Coffee Shop and I cannot wait to go back and sample their other dishes and hopefully with my laptop with me so I can enjoy the free wi-fi. Yohoooo … so I have taken photos of the two crazy people I have met at work. Eds has become more of an extrovert kinda person who loves to point and shoot [we're talking photography here, don't get any other ideas] and Edwin a crazy lunatic I met at work if you are in need of a good laughter then call him.

@ The Age of 24

- wedding rings and moi???  not quite! -

Technically she’s still 24 when she tied down the knot yesterday and she’s the first in the group to settle down [or so they say]. Well I got invited to attend my friend’s wedding, back in high school we have this circle of friends, there’s like 17 of us [15 girls and 2 boys] we parted ways when we went to different colleges but still get in touch and gather for Christmas party every year [am almost always missing in these gathering but nonetheless].

So Ann tied down the knot yesterday. Heck I don’t even know the guy [some friend huh?!!] Well we are not “close” per say,  it’s  big group what’d you expect? true all of us are friends but within that group you’d always have your own close friends right?.

So I watched her walk down the aisle in a princess like wedding gown and wondered, there she was settling down at the age of 24 and here I am at 24 still waiting or shall I say still trying to grow up. Heck! What happened in the “growing up” phase? A friend said just because she’s getting married doesn’t mean she has matured already … but then marriage is a HUGE thing, it’s not a trial and error kinda game that you could just walk out of the moment you realize it’s no longer working for you especially since there’s no divorce here.

The wedding was a classic scene and I just hope she’s getting married for all the right reasons and not because circumstance forced them too. Creepy One always said I am a cynic, so what … love in this day and age is highly overrated. I’d prolly cause foreheads to frown on that last sentence but what the heck  … bite me!

Part 1 of Uhmmmm … Say 5 Parts?? Candle Cakes Day Celebration

I was sick last 22 and on the 23rd, so much for a happy birthday but all’s well now so here’s a few tidbits. On the 24th Bena, Diva and I met up for lunch after my appointment with the quack. I decided that since we’re all food people we’d better go for eat all you can and we did at Family Choice. There was not that many people [must be coz of the rain] but the food was good and so was the company. It was fun!

Perfect Gifts from Beautiful Strangers

Diva and I went to the main post office after shift yesterday and of the 13 parcels | packages for me one of them was from Bobbie [Lavender72004 via swap-bot] and it contained this …

Surprise!I am glaeken via swap-bot

At first I thought this was for one of the swaps am in but no it was a birthday gift … and it’s very cute! I received a tag from her for one of the forum tags at swap-bot couple of weeks back but this was totally unexpected. Another birthday gift I received … [they sure arrived days ahead of my birthday] was from Cari, she’s my swap partner and she included a birthday gift for me on her package for our swap, something she made herself, so sweeeet.

Handmade

I have met so many wonderful and artistic ladies via swap-bot and though Jovie said I have “no life” outside of home and work but I found great friendship online … it was more than I could ask for. These presents arrived unexpectedly … something I didn’t ask for which is  really really nice  …..

Tuition Aid

I got a letter from a friend today, she lives in the US and she mentioned that some kids would join the army because the amount of money they make while in service is enough to get them through the entire four years in college instead of applying for a student loan which by the way is extremely expensive there. She asked about my college experience here and at the moment I am still composing the words for my reply. lol … not in a very creative mood am afraid.

Wishlist

His wish list is just impossible, he wants one of those plasma tvs you see on commercials. Impossible … especially when the worth of our exchanging gift is just 500 bucks. Thankfully am not the one who got his name and he doesn’t have anything else on his list. Can you imagine??!!! Such an a$$hOl3 … lol. Anyways as for me … the usual, books and books. I just hope whoever got my name would be able to find at least one of the titles am looking for.

Taking Back

Am not gonna say Sunday … not the band that is lol. Okay what am about to write is the freakin cast off heated mattress pads she gave me [against my will that is, mind you] last last year right after winter solstice but guess what she’s asking for it again! With the nonchalant approach that goes like this, hey remember that matty I gave you say last year??? well … can I have ‘em back please. I was like, I puked and peed on it … you still want it. She looked at me in the eye with the blank stare of a lunatic. Is it me or has the world gone haywire?

What To Make Of It

A friend of mine is turning a year older this Friday and for a present he asked for something relatively simple,  a burned CD with the completely discography of his favorite bands: Tool and A Perfect Circle. I listen to these bands every now and then but am not a die hard fan but he is and given that he has given me my first ever skateboard I wanna make sure I get that CD for him. So I managed find someone with those files and hopefully I’ll get them tomorrow.

We were texting the other day when he mentioned a friend of him from work whom I happen to met sometime last month at a gathering. His text message where as follows (translated in English):

him : bai, remember Jason? my height, a team mate of mine … introduced you guys last month? nyways, I mentioned to him you were getting me the Tool and A Perfect Circle discography, know what he said?

moi: the preppy guy? yeah I remember him, he gave me the traditional head-foot look over. not my type though too preppy for me … don’t tell him that, that’d ruin his ego. lol

him: hahahha funny thing is you are sorta his … as he put it, you are pretty geeky and conservative to be a skateboarder and to be addicted to the kind of music you are listening to. you also appear to be pretty oblivious.

moi: what’d you say?

him: told him to leave you alone :)

moi: good. bwahahaha. and yeah you can tell him he’s too preppy for me. see yah Friday.

So there you go … I was like … ah … it’s either I’d be amused that I happen to be someone’s “sorta” type or be annoyed for having met someone so stereotypical.  It reminded me of how someone who pointed out that am raised to be conservative made it sound that in this day and age … that bloody well is a crime. That being single is pitiful … oh which brings to mind a team mate of mine who kept on asking me that he introduce me to his friend in Singapore. Whoooohooo … can you people just leave me alone???

He prolly mean well but it’s annoying, how my seemingly unattached state is giving him the creeps and the cause for worry. Weird.

Violet

violet

This was taken in Baguio last April at Camp John Hay … they have a very beautiful garden with a wide assortment of pretty flowers. This bunch reminds me of two persons who meant a lot to me. First is Lovely, one of my besties and the sister am never blessed to have and second is Te Kate … a friend from work. Funny how we only got closer when mom died and Vic chose her to send his condolences to me. Like Lovely she has accepted the fact that am a brat, childish most of the times and very fickle-minded. Like Mitchy she’s kinda like my big sister on the floor, the kind who never refused to give you 50 bucks when you ask for one coz your hungry and you need to dash to the pantry and grab something to eat. So yeah … am surrounded by good and affectionate people.

Friday Night

Had dinner at Pancake House with Momie Cherry and Femme after my tutorial sessions and I enjoyed every bit of morsel they served. After a voluminous meal we had ice cream at Gelatissimo and it was swell. Then a ransack at Fully Booked which I am proud to say that I managed to walk out without spending a dime. There are several titles I’d like to have but I resisted temptation and was quite damn proud of myself for self-control.

Safe Back Home

Just got home from Bangkok and I dread going back to work and facing reality. *sigh* No presents for anyone this time … somehow some if not most people tend to like me for what I can give and not for who I really am. Bangkok was a swell especially with MJ who was just super friendly, we made friends with 3 tourists like us, Salah from Denmark (he’s Egyptian); Wuteim from Israel (he’s been travelling in the last 7 mos.) and the lovely Marietta from London (she’s Polish). It was a cool bunch they were all so talkative, between food and drinks talk was from whatever topic that sprung to mind. Photos later :) My Pink Summer Contest is still up and running, click on the banner below to join.

MJ’s Birthday Celebration

The night before my scheduled trip to Hong Kong (which was March 23, 2009), we had dinner at Moon Cafe to celebrate MJ’s birthday. There was Diva, April and Manong, Tin-Tin and Kitoy, Moi and MJ, Benita couldn’t make it and though we kept on calling him on his cell … there was no answer. We were assuming he was heavily asleep.

Dinner was great and talk was flowing, we had videoke afterwards at Beatbox and around 12 midnight MJ and I headed to Starbucks to unwind. It was 5 minutes 3 AM when I got home.

For Carol

Kids these days would want a ride of their own, I remember Carol asking her mom for one the day she turned 15 and is eligible to apply for a driver’s license. So Aunt Lucy checked with her contact to see if she can get the best deals on car insurance before buying a second hand car for Carol. We have been seeing a lot of her classmates drive their own wheels and though its kinda impressive but the thought of high car insurance rates is making me sick.

Apart from the car her parents had promised her, they’re also going on a trip somewhere in Europe as part of her graduation gift. Graduating class valedictorian certainly has its perks and right now I am helping her in looking for cheap accomodation so they can save on hotels and so they’ll have extra pocket money. Though Aunt Lucy thinks that teenagers and credit cards are words that should not go together, in Carol’s case she conceeded to giving her one. Afterall she is a responsible teenager.

Team Bulletin Board

I was enlisted as part of the bulletin board committee together with Lily and Randy but truth be told I haven’t done anything. Well if you consider going with them buying the material something then that/s about it. I wasn’t able to help out in making the slippers and all that. I asked Randy to take a picture of the finished product so I can blog about it, and boy it sure looks pretty.

Good Job Lily and Randy. Visit their site here.

Insurance and the Like

One of the things to top the priority list of a close friend is something she elaborately tagged as cheap term life insurance quotes as if searching a keyword in google. Amongst us friends I seem to be the one with the largest number of spam emails coming through everyday and though used to be they were regarded as nothing but junk but right now, Lexi is helping me filter them one by one stating that not all junk are actually junk. They just happen to be filtered and sorted through the wrong message box in the email. So from acai berry advertisements, to scholarship funds, free tv and computer deals, to vacation deals and now Lexi is after insurance plans and the likes. So before I delete all the stuff in my bulk folder they’ve been scrutinized by my obsessive compulsive friend. So now I call her my human junk filter. Nyahahaha .. peace out Lex. Love yah. Very Very Upset

I was silent the entire time or shall I say muted myself to oblivion. They didn’t arrive on time which under normal circumstances would have been okay but given my current state of mind the slightest things are always exaggerated. I think I’ve manage to alienate these people further by my behavior last night but waiting for close to an hour for one person and then for over an hour for another was just beyond my limit knowing fully well that I still have work at 2:30 AM.

It made me feel so left out as what seemed like half of the conversation revolved around people only I seem to not know and though I was listening I just don’t have anything to say. Am sorry but am just tired of pretending to be okay when am not and should these alienate the people around me, then so be it. my pink shoelace sig

Gifts

During the team lunch yesterday there was a time during the conversation where we talked about being godmothers and godfathers. I jokingly whined that it kinda sucks when your a godparent and you have what, 10 godchildren, because you’ll be expected to remember all their birthdays and be ready with gifts during birthdays and Christmas.

Someone said, I forgot who, that it should not be a problem as there are affordable toys out there that we can use as gifts. Question is what happens when they grow up and toys would no longer be an option?

Secret Diary of a Call Girl by Belle de Jour

I was looking for this book in all three major book stores here in my area (Powerbooks, National Bookstore, Fullybooked) but couldn’t find it. We started at Fullybooked (I saw the title there once but since I didn’t have extra monies then, didn’t bring my plastics either) so I let it pass taking a mental note of buying it next time I come visit. When we (Lovely and I) visited the shop back, it was no longer there. So I asked the ever helpful attendants and when I voiced out the title of the book not only where heads of other shoppers turned my way, the attendant also looked stunned.

Me: Can you help me locate a book?

Him: What’s the title ma’am?

Me: Secret Diary of a Call Girl by Belle de Jour

Him: *** muted … and looked stupid***

Me: Do I have to repeat the title?

Him: No, I got it let me check on the system.

By then heads were looking my way, a smirk from an old lady who apparently was too conservative to ever cope with the idea that there’s a published writing about a call girl’s diary. So off he went over to the cashier’s area where the pc’s located and together with the other attendants searched for it with sneaking glances at me who by then was browsing through books in the nearest section. I approached the cashier’s area and was informed that there’s one title remaining, so he said he’d go get it for me. Alrighty … but he came back empty handed.

Him: Ma’am, am sorry but that one last copy is already sold.

Me: I see, apparently someone else other than me wanted to shift to a different profession.

(I love the way the old lady’s eyes bulge with shock and indignation and the smile I got from cute guy browsing through cookbooks).

Lovely and I left the store and headed to Powerbooks and National Bookstore, I got similar reactions and I expected it. Heck, who would have thought Miss Goody Two Shoes would wanna read a book like that eh? my pink shoelace sig

Manito/Manita

We had our Team’s Christmas party last night and boy it was fun. As part of the games committee we administered the games and everyone was just cooperative … unleashing the kids in us. For the Manito/Manita, Randy got my name and gave me one of the books I’ve been meaning to buy (I know there’s lots of them on my list). Sophie Kinsella’s Can You Keep A Secret?, the book’s cover is pink, the box that Randy placed it in is a combination of pink and purple stripes with a huge pink ribbon. It was lovely.

Thanks Randz … love it! Thats like 1 down and … uhmmm many more to go. Saw lots of Jostein Gaarder books at National Bookstore … can’t wait to go book shopping :)

Foot Pain

Ever heard of a morning pain around your heels? If so then better check with your quacks and you’d be informed you’re experiencing something that’s called Plantar Fasciitis which is caused by excessive wear to the plantar fascia that supports the arch or by biomechanical faults that cause abnormal pronation. For easy to administer at home remedies you can try night splints – they gently flex the foot and toes overnight to help provide mornings free from chronic pain. Something that looks like this . Now I understand why my neighbor used to have this thing around usually at night before he goes to bed.

Dinner and Presents

Mitchy, practical as always, would not get me a pink skateboard for my birthday she said she’ll get me a book instead. Being a nerd I do love reading and asked her to get me any book by Haruki Murakami, last Tuesday we went to Ayala to buy a present for me and to National Bookstore to buy my book. So there goes the element of Surprise.

We had dinner last night at Moon Cafe, that’d include Moi, Mik, A, Mitchy, Mik’s cousin and his girlfriend and Mik’s sister. A and Bukie got me a book as well, which was what I asked from them and still from the same author. They got me Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World. Mik said he’ll buy me the pink piglet we saw at Toy Kingdom months ago but am beginning to change my mind. A book from Haruki would be nicer … I’ll text him tonight and ask him to buy me Norwegian Wood instead.

Old Age

A good friend of my mom’s who’s living next door is in her 60’s already, we’re pretty close she treated me as if am the youngest of her children. She’s got 3 boys all in their early 30’s already, so am like the youngest. Now as evidence of old age she’s starting to experience what the doctor’s would call the fibromyalgia syndrome and it hurts her in various places of her body.

So a weekly consultation with the doctors are scheduled to make sure she’d be okay.

23 on the 23rd … presents are very much appreciated. lol!

Had Late Lunch w/ Beautiful People

Source : tweakyourpage.com

It’s Mitchy’s birthday!!! Was surprised when she dropped by my station and said dodong was inviting for lunch. I was like … uhmmm did I hear you right? lol since I was on a call she emailed me and yeah apparently she has blackmailed dodong into buying us lunch sort of like a late celebration for his birthday last 19th. So we were there at Dessert Factory (moi, Mitchy, Aisat, D and Apple), too bad we didnt have photos lol no one ever bothered to think of taking some shots. Hehehe It was nice its been a awhile since the four of us sat down together … different work scheds, different work loads, lets just say everybody’s been busy.

Talk was flowing and I cannot believe just how many issues there are on the production floor. Lol … Tosha guys … love the food but most of all I love the company :)

What If … What Would You Do?

Something stupid like … I love you (lol!!). Me and my blabbermouth was on the loose again. A year ago I asked (quite impulsively) Are you falling for me? (assuming noh?!!) well the answer I got was sweet and cute … I think it went over my head … (did it?). It was nice though … now after a year … with all its changes both good and bad … and I waited for a year to make sure I know what I want and am sure of how I feel. Did a few turns here and there but it didn’t work … it was kinda unfair to the other party for using him to test my emotions … but a girl’s gotta make do with what she has.

So after talking to one of my besties I asked yet another assuming question. The response I got a year ago still holds true so I said … if I said I want you…if I said I need you…if I said I love you…what would you do? … its a conditional (defensive!!) question because of the word if … and I was told there was only two way to go … he’d stay or he’d run away.

Now am not sure under which side he’s response would fall under bec. it was neither … I blurted the question out w/o really thinking of the pros and cons, was taunted by the question tossed towards me … would I rather sit back and keep mum and contemplate on what could have been …. so there, I asked and was answered. I don’t even know how to face him when I bump his way … thinking bout it, my cheeks are already burning bright red.

Diva once told me he’d always tell that person how he feels and take it from there, at least he knows where he stands and then move on. I’ve laid down my cards and its up to him on how he’d take it. Good or bad … there’s always time and room for moving on.

Just a series of what if’s … no definite ending.

23 on the 23rd … presents are very much appreciated. lol!

Happy Candle Cakes Day A!!

I was on leave Sunday as we spent the whole day at Kawasan Falls, Badian in celebration of Wafa’s birthday. I missed school but what the heck … so Mik-Mik was there (its been a while since we were with him) together with his sister, Eds (the ever amiable Eds), Mitchy (my surrogate Ate), Bukie (Wafa’s other half), Wafa and Moi. Last time we were there, we (Wafa and I) were both skinny that was like 2 years ago … she was still single or was at least flirting with who knows who and I was still entrapped in my comfort zone.

The hike all the way to the top is tiring but its worth it … the place is really nice and the company was great. The gift Mik and I bought for her the day before was something I desperately wanted for myself (huhuhu … am a sucker for huggables), the saleslady at Toy Kingdom even suggested that I just buy that for myself and buy A the small one seeing that I was hugging it profusely as if my life depended on it.

Wafa’s naming the violet elephant, Wik-Wik ( from Wena and Mik) and its really cute. Weee

~ Wik Wik ~

NAME: Wik2x
AGE: (baby forever)
GENDER: male
BIRTH PLACE: Kawasan
PARENTS: Rowena Yee and Kim Carlo Tan
FAVE FOOD: Meatballs and Pizza
FAVE DRINK: Milk

SAYINGS: “real men wear violet”

With the magic words, we were able to convince Eds to go with us … not that it took much effort (lol!) but were glad he was with us. It was a gathering of common and close friends so that no one would be left out.

Notebook computers, sexy women, and a runway … well sort of.

Friday was my rest day so Jyn and I agreed to meet up at school so I can pay her and so we can withdraw one subject. The last one … Music … my reason was I can’t handle the pressure. Yeah, yeah am a coward I know. So we went to school and was devastated to find out that since its a Friday, the offices were all closed; we went to SM instead to PrimeCare where I saw Momie Lai and her husband (I think) and Razel (a barkada), they didn’t have EENTs on Fridays so we left and went mall strolling. There was an ongoing promo for notebook computers, so there were loads of them on display, there were dancers too painted in silver, and sexy women … strutting their buns carrying notebooks on a sort of runway.

So women were associated long ago with wine and beers (I’ve known that since I was lil), women were also associated with cars … and almost all car adverts have sexy women in the background, women were also associated with jewelry for as old as time … but women and notebooks? Nah that was new to me …  but that was the case last Friday … sexy women in small / tight dresses carrying notebooks walking the make shift runway.

They were also the cause why most of the onlookers were men … wonder if its the notebooks they’re actually looking at or the cute sexy buns?? Hmmmphh!!!

Who Am I Really?

Faery Dancing caught on with the parchment I have on the site and am amazed to find her a Sage and I assume a Pink lover like me.  We both didn’t agree on the title though, never thought of myself as Promiscuous, heck am what people would call NBSB. So contradictory with the Promiscuous thingy …

And I was touched by this 2nd parchment she has on her blog; touched in the same manner this parchment touched her.

The second parchment is more likely of who I am … not much but its all of me.

Blogging 101 Session 2

After work as has been my routine the last few days I head straight to the gym. I did my usual lapse on the treadmill, the bicycle, the stair master and on the weights. Hehehe spent 2 to 3 hours in the gym and afterwards spent another blogging session with Benita on Starbucks. Learned a few things about the wiz of globequest … met a very cute 2 year old baby girl and continued on our blogging escapade.

Drugged after 1 tall Venti Signature Hot Chocolate and 1 honey-glazed doughnut. Benita and Moi fooling around the web, dreaming of plans, like school, blogging and what not. We’re both interested in going back to school, just a short term course for Creative Web Development, am not sure when this would come to fruition but am loving the idea just the same.

For Terry and Jyn’s Wedding

So that’s me after Wafa worked her craft on me. I was running pretty late for a friend’s wedding but then we couldn’t pass the opportunity, after all this is like the first time for me to look like a “lady” whew!!. My hair’s not the easiest to manage and thanks to bobbie pins (didn’t know why they’re called like that) she was able to do something about it. Was she taking pic of the earrings or what? And that big bracelet … she pick out my ensemble last Friday with Bukie tagging along (let’s be honest am stupid with dresses and what goes with what) and on which book does it state that the color of your shoes should also be the color of your purse? Apparently everyone knew aside from me!!!! Where have I been when all this was discussed????!!!

Well he left at roughly around 4 PM he still has work at 4:30, because of that project he went on pre shift vgh good thing they allowed him. So from iced white chocolate mocha grande to strawberries and cream plus banana loaf to blueberry cheesecake there I was again awake for more than 24 hours working my brains out.
