Happy Birthday To You
and so I turned a year older
Amused to find only a handful remembered to greet me without being reminded by Facebook.
Woke up to find a couple of text messages wishing me well and blah blah blah (that was nice)
A phone call from someone I least expected to remember much less call had me grinning almost all day like a pig in shit.
True we used to be close but that was 4 years ago (where we talked everyday) …. now I’d wonder what ate up his ass if a stray text message from him comes my way.
So Thank You … that was a pleasant surprise.
A friend from high school who’s now in Dubai greeted me via chat and I was surprised she remembered. She said “its etched in my brain and I don’t need any reminder to remember”. (Awww that’s sweet)
Then MJ posted a photo collage on my FB wall in greeting …. and soon the greetings came in. Oh well at least now my wall doesn’t look so bare anymore. LOL
My boss asked if am going out tonight to celebrate or will I wait till this weekend. I said … nope, nanimo nai … its just gonna be me and my god celebrating.
Any particular gift you’d like to have? …. Uhmmm nope am quite happy with what I have.
Or wait …. maybe a pink rose …yeah no one’s ever given me one before. I think that’d be nice.

I should have posted this sooner but well I got really busy doing other stuff … posting this entry kinda took a back seat. The five of us [me, Rose, RJ, Vince and Jepoy] have been planning to watch Harry Potter together and have dinner in celebration of my birthday last 23rd but since RJ got sick, we had to reschedule. We watched the movie on the 29th, ate at Kublai Khan [its a first for RJ and Vince] and after the movie we had yogurt at Teriyaki Boy. It was a blast, Rose had fun fooling around with my camera and took the pics which means she wasn’t in most of them. Nyahahaha

Teriyaki Boy is located at the second floor level of the Terraces, Ayala Center Cebu and they serve the best yogurt I have ever tasted ever. I look forward to another gathering with the “League of Evil” nyahahaha seriously I have no idea why RJ calls our small rag tag team “League of Evil” … oh well whatever goes I guess. Hehehe
I turned a year older yesterday ….
This is one those dates in the year where I am reminded of how mom would use to greet me the moment I wake up instead now … I woke up like I always did feeling old and empty. *sigh*
A close neighbor of ours cooked three dishes for me and I had a good fill during lunch. She’s quite an accomplished cook. After lunch headed to church, bought some flowers, got home and then went to visit mom.
One of the friends I never expected to remember sent me a nice ecard via email … it was rather surprising that she remembered without Facebook to remind her.
I’m quite pleased with how I spent my birthday, fancy parties were never my thing. If I was still working I’d probably have dinner with a few people … but now I think this celebration is pretty much what I liked best.
August 2, 1948 was mom’s birthday. She would have been 62 years old today had she still been alive. Together with mom’s closest friend and together with another neighbor we went to the cemetery to pay our respects. It has been close to 3 years since she passed away and I still haven’t gotten over it fully. I guess it would some time … but I kept telling myself that where ever she is right now … she is in a much better place and someday soon I’ll see her again.
I went home yesterday around 7AM because I can no longer take the pain on my tummy and I was puking all over the floor. So I went home and crawled up in bed but to no avail, I’ve taken several meds but they didn’t work. So around 3PM I asked one of my close friends to come over and take me to the hospital so off we went to Chong Hua, it was rather surprising how I still manage to walk straight up but the process of filling out the papers and the wait for the meds to be given to me was just plain excruciating. The doctor asked twice if I really don’t want to go and admit myself. I said NO, he asked if maybe we should have the meds via IV as its faster that way but I said no, I’d rather take them orally. So I did and the effect was I dunno … took forever. So much for a “happy” birthday.
