I turned a year older yesterday ….
This is one those dates in the year where I am reminded of how mom would use to greet me the moment I wake up instead now … I woke up like I always did feeling old and empty. *sigh*
A close neighbor of ours cooked three dishes for me and I had a good fill during lunch. She’s quite an accomplished cook. After lunch headed to church, bought some flowers, got home and then went to visit mom.
One of the friends I never expected to remember sent me a nice ecard via email … it was rather surprising that she remembered without Facebook to remind her.
I’m quite pleased with how I spent my birthday, fancy parties were never my thing. If I was still working I’d probably have dinner with a few people … but now I think this celebration is pretty much what I liked best.
One of my two close friends, the sister am never blessed to have just passed the CPA licensure examination on last May 5′s examination. Whooohooo. It’s just amazing to see her pass knowing that this board examination is pretty tough and that the passing rate with each year tends to be on the small side.
So that’s us with empty plates during her Thanksgiving and B-Day dinner celebration last Sunday, several of our friends are there as well Lovely’s family. It was nice to be able to catch up on friends, dinner was amazing and all except for Lovely head up for a couple of beers and lots and lots of talk.
The night before my scheduled trip to Hong Kong (which was March 23, 2009), we had dinner at Moon Cafe to celebrate MJ’s birthday. There was Diva, April and Manong, Tin-Tin and Kitoy, Moi and MJ, Benita couldn’t make it and though we kept on calling him on his cell … there was no answer. We were assuming he was heavily asleep.
Dinner was great and talk was flowing, we had videoke afterwards at Beatbox and around 12 midnight MJ and I headed to Starbucks to unwind. It was 5 minutes 3 AM when I got home.

There are 17 of us, friends since highschool, now one has gotten married and had her baby (the first) last year and as part of the “barkada” all 16 of us were godmothers and godfathers to Pricilla Minette.
I was not present at her baptism so I made sure that last night (she turned one) I’d be there. So I was and so were the rest of us (not the complete set) but people I haven’t seen in like ages were there.
I don’t really know what godmothers do but as instinct told me, I was s’pose to bring her a gift hehe w/c I didn’t. Oh well … there’s always a next time. Weeeeeeee
Mitchy, practical as always, would not get me a pink skateboard for my birthday she said she’ll get me a book instead. Being a nerd I do love reading and asked her to get me any book by Haruki Murakami, last Tuesday we went to Ayala to buy a present for me and to National Bookstore to buy my book. So there goes the element of Surprise.
We had dinner last night at Moon Cafe, that’d include Moi, Mik, A, Mitchy, Mik’s cousin and his girlfriend and Mik’s sister. A and Bukie got me a book as well, which was what I asked from them and still from the same author. They got me Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World. 
Mik said he’ll buy me the pink piglet we saw at Toy Kingdom months ago but am beginning to change my mind. A book from Haruki would be nicer … I’ll text him tonight and ask him to buy me Norwegian Wood instead.
November 22, 2008 : Dinner @ Kagura
- I told them I wanna celebrate my birthday with them so it was decided that since I am not available Sunday night we’ll celebrate it on Saturday night. Lovely had a class that ended at 6PM while mine ended at 3PM, it gave me an ample time to visit Mom. RJ texted and said to meet up at BTC at 7PM, hehe now I picked Lovely up at her school at around 6:45PM and dragged her to SM where we searched for that baby I want (that’s a separate entry). We arrived at BTC at around 8PM, RJ has been texting us all these time asking where we were hahaha.
We arrived and she took us to Kagura, its a Japanese restaurant, if there’s one thing that hasn’t change … that’s her love for everything Japanese. ‘Twas a first for Lovely and Moi to dine in a Japanese restaurant and it was a blast, I was terribly full. Here are some snapshots:

Seems like a lot of my friends both from work and from school are celebrating their birthdays this month. Checked on my calendar and am a bit sad … quite a lot of people to buy gifts for … huhuhuh … oh well its just once a year so I’ll be gift hunting this coming Thursday.
